Initial Thoughts:

I’ve only had this game for about 2 days and have been playing around. This current review is only off of 2 days of playing.

As a Sanrio Fan, it was fun getting to talk to the characters that I’ve grown up knowing from merchandise at the Sanrio Store (and now other stores).

The entire game has such a nice color palette and it’s all cute and kawaii. Just what you’d expect from Sanrio.

However, currently, I do have a few observations and thoughts.

NOTE: just because I say I dislike something doesn’t mean I hate the game. I love it, it’s super cute!! These are just my initial thoughts – that’s all. 🙂

Customizations:

The beginning of the game where you can choose your character was lack luster TBH. The cat skins look like they copied ACHN and just plopped it into the game. I’m usually a cat fan and the designs bothered me. They weren’t cute – they almost looked possessed.

Hello Kitty says you can get more options as you go through so we’ll see what else we unlock.

I myself chose a dog design this time.

Movements:

Moving around in this game after playing ACNH for so long isn’t easy. I would say this also goes with the new Harvest Moon games as well. You can’t spin the camera around in the 3D setting. You are stuck with the view they give you.

I didn’t realize how much I approved of/appreciated this setting (after getting dizzy one too many times in the other games) until I didn’t have it.

When a tree gets in your way, you can’t spin the control around to see where you are.

Otherwise, the movement seem to be normal/ok. I haven’t found the control yet to make your character run but I’m sure it’s there.

Instructions

This is where I have a few complaints and I’m hoping its just because I didn’t pay attention, but, they didn’t explain some important things.

Game Currency

There wasn’t an explanation on Money or Currency in the game (at least so far) and when I was viewing clothes, I randomly bought/got some and I’m still confused as to how I did it.

I thought at first it was the clams but I don’t think that’s the case.

Game Play

I know the general gist is you’re supposed to build your island but there really isn’t a set goal in mind after you rescue the other people on your airplane.

I’m guessing it’s opening islands and just free play. People say its like “Breath of the Wild” and I agree. I had the same problem with that game as well. ^ ^’

That could just be my ADHD talking. I like to have a purpose.

Dungeons

You are asked to open this area and need to find gold cogs. I couldn’t figure out how to use the thing until I realized they wanted you to open these small puzzle dungeons.

I’m an adult so I figured this part out after some trial and error, but I wish there had been more hand holding for say the younger kids playing it. I’m not saying that kids are dumb by any means but I would have been so confused if I had found it at their age.
